Bradley Stoke Community Festival

Date: Saturday 7th June —

We arrived at Bradley Stoke Community Festival with some trepidation due to yellow thunderstorm warnings.  Our director Philip Francis had promised us a table, but in the dry warm weather we’d had for the last few months we didn’t realise how much we’d need a gazebo… thankfully Philip was able to find one for us last minute!

This time Melinda was in Emersons Green supporting their event, and Emilia was joined by enthusiastic and competent volunteer Rosa.  We had borrowed the engaging roulette wheel from WEG for the day, and Rosa created a set of energy facts to go alongside the nature facts. This worked really well – to be repeated next time.

There isn’t yet a very active local climate and energy group in Bradley Stoke (although we met one of the organisers of the currently dormant Bradley Stoke Zero Carbon group, which would be great to see revived!).

Our stall was between the burger stand and the doughnuts. A few people came out despite the weather warnings and showers, and we had some chats about energy and insulation with people who’d only really come for the roulette wheel – so that was quite positive!  Matt from Retrofit West and Melinda came for the last hour or so, which meant everyone had time to visit other parts of the festival, and I even tried out the outdoor gym equipment on Jubilee Green, which was nice and energising!
